Community input had a meaningful impact on project design. We’d like to thank the community for your participation throughout the process. Together, we’ve identified a solution that not only addresses traffic congestion, but honors the heritage and community of Oak Hill. We look forward to continuing the dialogue through the construction phase of the project.

Oak Hill Parkway Past Public Events

The following is documentation of public outreach during the environmental study.

Beginning Feb. 15, 2022, visit us online to learn more about the Oak Hill Parkway project as we enter our first year of major lane shifts and detours, heavy construction activities, and other potential impacts. Find out what is coming next in the corridor! The virtual meeting will include a pre-recorded presentation, construction updates, and responses to frequently asked questions.

The project team met with stakeholders regarding the traffic data recorded and modeled for the proposed Oak Hill Parkway project.

The project team welcomed the community to join us at a Project Update Workshop. At this come and go event, over 90 attendees received the latest information regarding the environmental study, the proposed project designs, and what’s next for the Oak Hill Parkway.

The project team welcomed the community to join us at an Environmental Workshop to explore the science behind the Oak Hill Parkway environmental study. The goal of this community workshop was to update the community on the research that has informed the project over the last eight months. Attendees heard about the biology, history, archeology, geology and other work that is being conducted. This data will help determine a possible preferred alternative to move forward. Then, through an interactive aesthetics priority exercise, we asked for community priorities regarding aesthetics, landscaping, tree plantings, tree relocation and other elements.

The project team hosted an Oak Hill Parkway information booth at the Founders Day Festival in downtown Dripping Springs, TX, and at the Lake Travis SpringFest in Bee Cave, TX.

The project team held the sixth open house for the Oak Hill Parkway project. Over 155 members of the public attended to learn more about and provide comments on: an updated look at the design of Alternatives A and C, including artistic renderings of key intersections; the draft matrix for this third phase of evaluation; an update on designs and ideas for Context Sensitive Solutions including bicycle / pedestrian improvements and intersection aesthetics; and information provided at the recent Water Quality Workshop including off-site water detention.

A Water Quality Workshop was held in order to share what the project team knows about water issues in the corridor, including Williamson Creek, flooding concerns and run off. Attendees helped us identify any additional issues or concerns as well as their priorities for the team regarding both water quality and water quantity. Over 40 members of the public attended.

At the Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS) Workshop #2 meeting, the team presented the results of last October’s CSS community survey as well as how we are moving forward with those comments and community priorities. The display boards for discussion included: our draft CSS Vision Statement, maps featuring proposed multimodal connections for cyclists and pedestrians in Oak Hill, ideas of ways we could revitalize Williamson Creek; potential locations of CSS design concepts within the corridor; and artist sketches of potential retaining wall designs. Through a series of sticker dot exercises and a community survey, the public were able to inform us if we were on the right track and identify anything that was missing. Over 40 members of the public attended.

A Bicycle and Pedestrian Workshop was held to inform and seek feedback on the Mobility Authority’s current and proposed investment in bicycle and pedestrian improvements. Team members from the four projects currently under study – 183 North Mobility Project, MoPac South, MoPac Intersections and the Oak Hill Parkway Project were on hand to explain the proposed improvements and record input. The event was attended by 17 individuals from 6 different organizations representing the bicycle and pedestrian community.

At the Open House, the public was asked to review and comment on the revised alternatives to improve mobility and safety; and discuss the collaborative approach to transportation design and engineering, known as Context Sensitive Solutions. Approximately 105 members of the public attended.

At the Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS) Workshop #1 meeting, members of the Oak Hill Parkway project team met with members of the public to introduce the CSS planning approach and to gain a better understanding of the Oak Hill community's priorities in relation to the CSS process.

At the stakeholder workgroup meeting, members of the Oak Hill Parkway project team met with various stakeholder representatives from the Fix290 group, area neighborhood associations and City of Austin District 8 Council Member candidates to share information on the status of the Interim Improvements, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process, mobility concept evaluation criteria and process, and next steps. The project team also solicited feedback from stakeholders on important issues to them related to project development.

At the Open House, the public was asked to review and provide comments on the remaining and revised mobility concepts, as well as the evaluation criteria and process. Information on the Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS) process, a collaborative approach to transportation facility design and engineering, was also shared with the public.

At the Finance Workshop, information was shared with the community about transportation funding options, the state of transportation funding, tolling, and state and local tolling policies. The public was also asked to provide input on the Oak Hill Parkway project.

At the Open House, the public was able to review and provide input on the preliminary mobility concepts that had been developed and the criteria that would be used to evaluate the concepts going forward. Concept F, Transportation System Management and Transportation Demand Management concepts were introduced, along with Option 2.

At the Evaluation Workgroup Meeting, attendees previewed new concepts that would be shared at the next open house on October 22nd. The new concepts included Transportation System Management, Transportation Demand Management and Concept F. Approximately 62 members of the general public attended.

At the Open House, attendees were asked to comment on eight concepts and one option, including concepts A, B, C, D, E-1, E-2, 2007 Alternative, No Build Alternative and Option 1 for the west end transition.

At the Bike and Pedestrian Workgroup Meeting, attendees were encouraged to provide suggestions, identify issues or concerns, and share information on the bike/pedestrian plans for the Oak Hill corridor. The discussion included parts of the City of Austin plan, the Oak Hill Neighborhood Plan and the Oak Hill Trails plan.

At the Design Workgroup Meeting, attendees were encouraged to provide ideas and concepts that meet the proposed purpose and need of the project and gather initial reaction to general alternative concepts.

At the Oak Hill Envisioning Mobility Workshop meeting, members of the Oak Hill Parkway project team met with members of the public to gain a better understanding of the Oak Hill community's values, and vision for future development and mobility.
