Draft Environmental Impact Statement

WHAT IS AN EIS? An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is a full-disclosure, public document that includes an analysis of a full range of alternatives (including the “No-Build,” or do nothing alternative) and an assessment of potential environmental impacts through the evaluation process. A broad range of environmental issues have been studied and the findings reported, such as: water quality, air quality, cultural resources, biological resources, socioeconomic conditions, community cohesion, noise and more. The EIS includes a summary of the public involvement efforts and the context-sensitive solutions process. This document is required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969.

On May 4, 2018, TxDOT and the Mobility Authority, as co-lead agencies, published the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for public and agency review. We welcome you to download, review, and comment on this document. Your comments must be received by Friday, June 29, 2018 to be included in the official record.

The appendices for the DEIS are as follows:

Beginning May 4, 2018, the DEIS (without appendices) and draft schematic design are available for inspection Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the TxDOT Austin District Office, 7901 N. I-35, Austin, TX 78753. Project information is also available at the Mobility Authority Office, 3300 N. I-35, Suite 300, Austin, TX 78705, and the Hampton Branch at Oak Hill Austin Public Library at 5125 Convict Hill Road, Austin, TX 78749. This information will also be available for inspection at the public hearing.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 16, 2014 and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
